Progress

Last night was the first time in a long time that I was able to sit down and get some work done. I mapped out a novella and a novel. What did you do last night?

Tick…Tock…Tick…Tock

Oh boy!

Time is running out! I need to sit down and read, read, read, and read. I need to call and make arrangements as well for cake and food. I need to do a final check list of whose coming 🙂

So much to do….and I’m still writing novella one that goes with the story. I don’t know if this is a good idea so late in the game….but we will see.

Let’s face it i am one of the biggest procrastinators that I know. I need to stop.

This Week

This week plan on creating blogs on both blogs, marketing my upcoming e-book (any advice would be greatly appreciated it), and wrapping projects up.

On the Writing Block:

Finish Twisted Desire, book 2 of my Twisted Series. This is merely a revision. Once it’s finished I can start the beta reading process and editing as well.

Finish writing book 2 of my Catalyst series. I am about one third done.

Read through TGB book project. Once this is done I can send it to the editor.

Put together a list of projects I need to put together. I am hoping to publish a collection of short stories sometime this year, I am still writing them. The collection is entitled The Reaper.

In other news I plan on going to the gym four times and adding zumba back into my life at least 3 times. Oh and yoga, I need to do yoga.

What’s in plan for this week?

The Game Plan

I woke up with my throat on fire, but I guess that’s normal being my tonsils have only been out for a week. I go back to work on Wednesday of this week. How much do I wish that writing was a full time job. Someday…I hope.

so here’s the game plan. I have completed everything I have on book 2 of the Jaded series. This is great because now I can focus on editing The Girl from Bangkok. I think this book has a lot of potential.

So I have about fifteen pieces wot completely gut and edit. I am up for the challenge. I have found out from reading Kboards that in order to remain popular you have to have a book out every few months or so. So I am hoping to at least have six completed and edited pieces before I publish book one. This will give me time to write more and edit as well.

What’s your game plan? Oh I also plan on participating in the Flash Fiction Challenge and Camp Nano again. I didn’t complete it last time, but I am determined to in July.

As per usual I plan on writing more on my blog and finding more followers. If you know of any blog challenges let me know. I would love to participate in them.

Progress Report

On the plus side I managed five days of working out!! Woot woot, thank goodness for exercise videos on youtube. I am still able to do my group exercises. This ia great because I don’t drive due to my limited vision. I also managed yoga twice this week.

I am taking the day off to watch some kids and I plan on attempted pilates and yoga tomorrow.

In my writing world, I focused on editing book two and thanks to The Kingsmen, the movie, I drafted nine novellas. How awesome is that? I love getting inspired by watching good movies.

I have been actively posting and interacting with lots of other indie publishers. I am learning alot, so if you want some free advice head on over to http://www.kboards.com. You can post questions and get real answers. Not saying that other forums aren’t but these people have published.

I have found lots of good advice about my cover, it has helped me alot. I plan on posting at least two blogs this upcoming week and eventually making a schedule of sorts.

Wish me luck and thanks for reading.

The “call”!!!

On Friday at 5pm I received the “call” from Literary Agent and President of Serendipity Literary Agency in New York. I must say after we got the initial introductions I was beyond nervous. I pitched my novel. She listened and pointed out a problem in the first sentence. Yikes! But the good news is that I don’t have to send in a query letter. Since I was a finalist in the contest, I can send in my full manuscript to Ms. Brooks herself, thereby bypassing all the red type. This is such a great opportunity.

So again I was floored by this opportunity. I am super excited. But then reality hits me and I realize that I have a ton of work to do this week. Like homework and then re-editing my novel. Which for some reason this week I decided to remove the first 8 chapters of the story. I figured I could re-enter the cut chapters as flashbacks.

Back to the interview, so if you didn’t know let me be the first to tell you that she is very polite and kind. Honestly she reminded me of a roommate I had in college. So it was easy to talk to her, and staying true to myself I rambled. Which was something that I had sworn not to do.  But it led into the discussion as to how an Aerospace Engineer ended up owning her own agency. Well she told me that she worked in publishing writing Engineering books (I couldn’t even imagine doing something like that, it sounds painful) and then decided to do something different. So she took a chance and opened her own agency.

This was very inspiring to me. We also chatted about growing up in a visually impaired household and attending a bling school. Also about my college days and current situation. It was quite normal. She asked me to quote my experience with the Young Adult Contest. So here it is.

“This contest gave me, an unpublished author, and the opportunity to show the literary world my talent as a writer.”

Now what do you guys think? Too cheesy or not enough?

All in all I feel the conversation went well. Yes, I was nervous and overly appreciative, but hey that’s me in person. I wish I had been calmer, but what’s done is done. There’s only moving forward.  So wish me luck, I’m going to need it.
