Captain America: Civil War

The Avengers have really captured the group superhero fighting!!

The storyline was great, the action was even better.

In this installment of the Captain America we begin with the team at odds over signing a document that would prevent the from acting on impulses to fight evil. This comes about when innocent civilians end up dying.

Okay about his…hello how many innocent lives have been lost in the last ten movies the Marvel? Its only now an issue when a prominent figure happens to die…..

Adding to this is the realization that Buckey is alive and still a threat…or is he?

The Captain feels an obligation to keep his friend safe and this in turn splits the Avengers….and a civil war ensues!!

All that aside..we meet some new crime fighting heroes!!! Like Black Panther and Spiderman. Yes Spiderman is back….and he’s a different character!! A younger kid that is reminiscent of Tony Stark….

Trailer

Its a great movie!!!

D is for David!!!

This past year we lost a legend who took risks with his music, acting, and even in his personal life.

I had the pleasure of watching and enjoying the Labyrinth in my childhood. If you haven’t seen it, you need to. I can watch this movie anytime….and the music …his voice gets stuck in my head!! He owned the King of the Goblins!! Here’s my favorite song.

Then he resurfaced in my life in the 90’s with Nirvana’s remake of his song, The Man who sold the World….made me remember all the work he’s done in his life.

I know it’s short, but I hope you enjoyed a trip down memory lane!!

Fifty Shades of Gray (Movie)

Yes, this movie came on while I was at home and couldn’t sleep. I imagine that. It came on after hours.

When I started watching it, I couldn’t help but see the strained acting on the film. Within the first five minutes I was laughing. it reminded me of Twilight. Yes I know it is fan pic of Twilight and I can see it. I kept want to yell at the characters, “Line…line” If you have seen RiffTrax then you will get that.

So anyway, there were parts that were a bit far fetched, but I have to say as the move picked up I found myself annoyed.

First that a girl would be interested in someone that dropped so many domineering lines as Mr. Gray did. And I’m sorry, but if I worked in a  Hardware store and someone came in and asked me for cable ties, rope, masking tape….I would so be keeping an eye on the missing persons column in the newspaper.

Dude is creepy! To say he’s a psychopath would be dead wrong, dude is a sociopath He has found his girl and will not let her go. It was like watching a tiger stalking his prey.

Of course I didn’t like the way the movie ended,my sister tells me it’s a lot like the book. I can’t get through the book, it’s painful.

And what’s with this bottom lip biting thing? I have read ten books with the female character doing that. What is it a direct hit to the pants of guys everywhere? I don’t get it…hello chapstick works wonders….

So I’m nit picking…I didn’t like the female actress of Ana, Christian Gray’s character was right on, but that’ll I am going to say about that.

I think I might have to buy the soundtrack there was plenty of great songs. What did you think?

I recorded and will probably watch it again at some point.

Mockingjay Part 2

I remember walking into the theater with bittersweet feelings, in that it was the last installment of The Hunger Games, or should have been…I have recently heard a discussion about them making another Hunger Games as sort of a prequel. I wish they wouldn’t, but know they will. I don’t want to see a prequel. That is like Twilight having a Prequel LAME!!

I say this but I will probably flock to the theater with the thousands of others to watch it under protest.

So the movie was everything I wanted and more. I loved the scenes in the capital and the realization by Katniss that Gale is a weapons mastermind. I won’t say more than that, just in case someone hasn’t seen it yet or read the book.

It takes you on an emotional rollercoaster! Get ready. I was satisfied with the final installment of The Hunger Games and I am looking forward to more young adult books being changed into movies.

What did you think?

Mockingjay Part 1

The Mockingjay part one was quite shocking for me because I guess I had forgotten that Peeta was still captured. I guess part of me thought he was rescued at the end of movie 2. Oppsseee. He was captured and being tortured by the Capital. He would appear nightly in talks with Caesar about how Katniss needs to cease working with the rebellion.

The untimely death Phillip Seymour Hoffman put a wrench in things. They digitally integrated him in the movie. It was quite believable and made me sad, in that he was an amazing actor. I mean his movies hit home!

And Julianne Moore, I hope she never decides to dye her hair gray, she wears it well, but red is her color. As President Alma Coin, she’s vicious and conniving…I hate to say this, but she reminded me of Hilary Clinton…..think about it….

The fighting was good and I have to say that at first I didn’t like song that Lawrence sang, but then it grew on me. It was quite intriguing and proves that good actresses are artists in more than just acting. It’s a good thing she wasn’t tone deaf.

In the end Peeta was freed, but had transformed into a monster… or at least when it comes to Katniss.

The Hunger Games: Review

When I first heard that Jennifer Lawrence was cast as Katniss Everdeen I didn’t see it. I had known that Lawrence was used to playing bad ass girl characters, with her role in The Poker House, and Winter’s Bone. She is tough and a damn good actress. I was excited to see how things turned out. After the movie I remember feeling giddy with excitement. I can’t wait for the next movie to come out. Not only was her part good, but the role of Peeta Malark was casted well with Josh Hutchinson. Over all I gave it a five out of five. Art of me wishes that there was more violence and gore, like the book, but I understand why the directors decided to go that route. It’s so they could get more viewers without having to have the added drag of R ratings.

That being said, I don’t feel that the story is appropriate for grade school children. I mean it’s just too much, they don’t need that. Let them read Charlotte’s Web or The Box car Children. No need to bring in blood and gore, they get that enough at home.

Movie Review: American Sniper

OMGosh!!

So I recently watched American Sniper.

First let me say that Bradley Cooper can play anyone. He’s such a versatile actor, but I have to say this was his best role yet.

I can only imagine the pain and suffering this man’s family had to have endured. This man, sniper, battled demons most of us only have nightmares about.

I have always been advocate for Veterans and it sickens me the way our government treats the men and women who sacrifice their time, bodies, and most importantly minds to protect us. Us being Americans who can’t even get along most day. Who are upset because someone cuts them off, steals their lunch, or even things as minor as a facebook post.

Wake up people! We aren’t living in a war zone. You don’t have to sacrifice your children to warlords or watch your family members dismembered or killed. Last time I checked bombs or bullets weren’t whizzing by your head.

What these men and women see overseas changes a person. And when they get home they need exit counseling.

Now back to the movie. It’s amazing!

Cooper portrayed Chris Kyle who is deemed America’s Most Lethal Sniper. First think I must note Kyle is a hero. He sacrificed his sanity to protect our freedom. He did what he had to do and wasn’t happy about it. There were times when Cooper seemed confused about being praised for killing men, women, and children. It bothered him and in the end I think he thought he had become a monster.

I wish I could shake his hand and thank him for his service. Amazing movie. I’m not going to give away the ending. I’ll leave you with this, just when things are getting back to normal tragedy strikes and lives are changed forever.

I had the same reaction after watching The Hurt Locker. I balled. You really get a firsthand view of the mental trauma that these prestigious men/women have gone through. You also get to see them battle with being called a hero for ending other’s lives.

I rate it a 5 out of 5! A definite must see!
