Catching Fire…review

So when Catching Fire came out, I was mad at Katniss for the way she was treating Peeta, just as I was in the book. Here was a guy who put everything on the line, including his heart to fight for this chick. A chick who makes it clear that she can take care of herself.

I was pissed that the game maker had decided to do another hunger games with the victors. Talk about a slap in the face. It was brutal and mean. I understand the logic behind President Snow, he wanted to get rid of her, but had to be tactful about it. Killing her would just piss off a bunch of people. So why not make a game of it.

That’s what he did. But again there were plans at play that he didn’t know about. He was outsmarted again and Katniss was freed and Peeta sacrificed to the Capital. Anyone knows that in any great love story there will be a plot twists that keep us on our toes.

What I would like to point out is that even thought I had read the book and knew what was going to happen, I was still shocked to see it played out. It hit another part of my psyche. If a book made movie is done right it will illicit this kind of response.

So when the ending credits ran, I was again anxious to see the next installments.

The Hunger Games: Review

When I first heard that Jennifer Lawrence was cast as Katniss Everdeen I didn’t see it. I had known that Lawrence was used to playing bad ass girl characters, with her role in The Poker House, and Winter’s Bone. She is tough and a damn good actress. I was excited to see how things turned out. After the movie I remember feeling giddy with excitement. I can’t wait for the next movie to come out. Not only was her part good, but the role of Peeta Malark was casted well with Josh Hutchinson. Over all I gave it a five out of five. Art of me wishes that there was more violence and gore, like the book, but I understand why the directors decided to go that route. It’s so they could get more viewers without having to have the added drag of R ratings.

That being said, I don’t feel that the story is appropriate for grade school children. I mean it’s just too much, they don’t need that. Let them read Charlotte’s Web or The Box car Children. No need to bring in blood and gore, they get that enough at home.

So what happened in 2015?

Hmmmm….good question.

I finished my Masters of Arts in English with an emphasis on Creative Writing (Fiction).

I lost my dog of ten years….(she was a rescue dog when I got her and they assume she was at least two or three).

No promotions.

I lost my cat Sebastian….he was a hand me down cat…good times, minus him peeing on the floor…

I self-published my first novel, Twisted Proposal in August….how cool is that!!!

No Vacations

I lost some weight….not as much as I want….it goes back to that motivation thing.

The Hunger Games ended…booo…but I heard they are going to be doing some prequel stuff. Please don’t….that’s all I have to say about that.

Oh and currently I know ten women that are preggo…its crazy!

So….that’s a wrap for now. I can’t wait to see what 2016 has to bring….

What to do with bad days!!!!

Ever have one of those days where nothing seems to go as planned. This is my life everyday. I can wake up in the morning and plan to sit down and write all day and BAM life decides it’s not going to happen.

So instead of being bitter (most days) I use the restructed day to my advantage and day dream. Well not really day dream, more like imagine all the ways my day could have been worse. This reminds me to be thankful.

This post is to remind everyone that it may look grim out the window of your eye, but don’t give up.
Thoughts and feelings!!!

Changes!

Well the time has come for me to separate my personal writing career from my private writing….sort of. I have created a new blog to specifically to follow my journey into self-publishing.I hope you’ll join me there too.  Head on over for the full cover reveal tomorrow 🙂

Head in the Clouds

So in other news, I discovered a scratch in the middle of my less than a year old glasses. This is horrible maiinly because I only see out of one eye. Blarg!!! I am going to call my eye glass place to see if I have a warranty or something. That would be great….I wonder if they would left me change my frames too….hmmm..

I am getting ready to try It Works thermaplus….I’ll let you know how that goes. I did an awesome job with the 24 day Challenge by Advocare. I can’t wait til I can do another one in three months. I lost 12 inches!!! I am working on loosing another ten pounds. My ambitions are declining….I need to stay motivated!! Any tips?

I think my air conditioner is broke and my cat’s headed outside if he keeps not using the litter box. I don’t understand him. I think he’s just being problematic.

Biggest news of today, I lost my dad’s mother, Ginny this morning. We weren’t really close, but I am reminded that life is short and death sucks!

That’s all for now…I’ll write more tomorrow :).

Catching Up

So I just finished a 24 day challenge by Advocare!! Lost 12 inches and 5 pounds. How awesome is that? I have also beefed up my working out schedule to including the gym. This week I am going to work on implementing Zumba and Yoga into my gym schedule. Today I spend an hour walking on the treadmill and almost burned 500 calories. Now I don’t know about you, but I am one of those unfortunate people that reach a certain point and pour sweat!!! It’s crazy!!

In other news I am getting ready to start my 4th week of class. Yikes!!! It’s another thing that’s getting real. Soon I will be graduated!! With a Master’s!! What will I do then?  I mean….I work in Billing which is nothing I went to college for (psychology and sociology)

I recently finished a book, The Girl on The Train….if you liked Gone Girl you will love this book. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and the characters are relatable. Check it out!! I am going to write a review via goodreads and post a link later. Also I started reading The Martian. It has been made into a movie staring the great Matt Damon. If you read this book he’s perfect for the role. I hope they don’t mess up the writer’s integrity!! We all know how Hollywood can botch a good book!!

I”m excited for the upcoming weeks!! Publishing book, marketing said book, and even just logging in see that one sale will fly me to the moon!!!

What’s going on in your world?
