Meet the Coopers (movie)

I love this movie. At first I thought it was going to be just another feel good movie about family life that it’s realistic. I was wrong I love being wrong

Diane Keaton was great in this movie, a bit like the character from “Because i said So”, it’s a cute movies. But Olivia Wilde, surprised me in this movie, She’s is gorgeous, I mean if I could have those eyes I would although stye would look weird on my face, but moving on. So the movie was real and fucked up, like all families right.  I’m being distracted. Okay so the characters in the move are real and can literally be anyone in society. That’s what i liked about it.

We all know of the perfect couple hiding the fact that they have fallen out of love and fighting what they think is the end. Then there are those that in the middle of typing to handle being the divorced parent. Add in sibling rivalry, dreams, and jealously this makes for a good feel movie on epic proportions.

There are secrets and lies for no reason, just because people think that the truth can’t be handled, even though we all know it is just made worse by being kept a secret.

Right?  We’ve all heard of the saying that the truth will set you free and it’s true, but a hard pill to swallow.

It’s a story about family and the struggles of new beginnings all centered around Christmas when the feel goods are at their peak.

And yes, Diane Keaton is wearing one of those ridiculous dresses that puff out…

The Revenant, a review

If Leo doesn’t get an academy award for this movie, I’m done with Hollywood. This movie brought me back to the same time that I watched Dances with Wolves, with Kevin Costner. Couple in the vicious raw video footage of….a gruesome bear attack. It’s so intense, but well shot.

It was gritty in all the right places and reminded me again of what the human body is capable of if the will is strong enough. It was also a harsh reminder of the strain relationships between the Native Americans and the white man.

Even though I am thankful for everything I have, a house I rent, the job I loathe, the car that I pay too much for….but all of it…all of it wouldn’t have been possible if the Europeans didn’t lay the framework. I can’t help but wonder if our world wouldn’t be where it is now if instead of killing the Native Americans and Bison, if the Europeans, Spaniards, and whoever else tromped onto America’s soil would have found a way to be friends.. What would have happened if we would have co-existed? Would there be millions of years left? Enough food to go around? Less crime? Less…hatred? This lingered in the back of my head, but it came and went as the movie played out on the screen.

When the credits rolled I was left with the same feeling as Inception. I didn’t know what to think. The one feeling I remember was a strong sense of depression. Depression in that the main characters plight was met with…such bitter sweetness. You’ll know what I mean if you’ve seen it.

It’s a great movie!! I grimaced, felt like crying, gawked at the ceiling, and felt sick. I love movies that take me on a wild ride and like I said at the beginning, he had better win an Oscar.

It’s Time

Halloween was very quiet, I didn’t pass out candy this year. i worked on my homework thats due this week.

I got pictures from all my sister and their kiddos dressed up, this year they were Captain America, Mario, butterfly Princess, Monster high Girl, goth girl, ninja turtle, mike and sully and a cute fluffy elephant!!!

So when I get off werk in 31 mins I am gonna go home and write like a mad woman.

Tuesday Spanglish

As far as I’m concerned, Adam Sandler’s best movie is Spanglish. He plays the laid back husband of high strung Tea Leoni’  and falls for his maid, which is played by the talented Penelope Cruz.

It’s a great film about the intersecting relationships between “the help” and their employees. It’s funny, witty, and even though provoking. In a blink of an eye a person’s life can be changed.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you should!

Sunday’s Post

This is what I was going to post yesterday, butthe internet on the train sucked!

This past weekend I went to my sister’s house in Bloomington normal and spent a jam packed weekend celebrating her three kids birthday’s. I mean she has impeccable timing. They are all born three weeks apart in April into May. It’s crazy.

Here’s how it started. I packed on Friday night to get that over with then went to bed thinking my train left at 9am. I didn’t sleep particularly well, so I woke up and realized after checking my e ticket that my train left at 7:25. It was now 7”20 on my phone. So I threw on some clothes and rushed out the door. It was only by a mere blessing that the train waited for me. I don’t really think it waited for me, but still. It was nice that it was delayed for ten minutes.

I found a seat and then started my journey.

Upon arrival I was greeted by Kyla, Kyra, Jordon, and my sister Teyah. We trekked back to her car, which was at the last parking lot and in the last row. It was fun though to see the kids. They grow so fast. I was just there a month ago and I swear they are practically grown.

We get back to her house and I make lunch, or attempt to make lunch. I am not really good with the French frying thing. Before my sister went to the store she advised me to turn on the pot with the oil and throw in the fries. So that’s what I did. However, unbeknownst to me someone had pour purple Kool-Aid mix in the oil. The presented me with an odd strange gray colors fries that was super soggy.

GROSS!! So we ate bologna sandwiches, mini tacos, and green beans.

Then I took a nap. Or attempted to. I would wake to Jordan patting my head like a puppy and Kyra screaming about something. Needless to say I might have gotten ten minutes in. Then it was a mad scramble to clean the house and prepare for the sixteen kids that were coming over. Oh yeah and to hide the 258 eggs my sister had stuffed a few days ago. Have you ever tried to hide 258 eggs? It’s horrendous.

So it got to the point of me just tossing them out into a big filed. Yep that was it. They were dispersed.

So then the kids started to arrive along with one of my friends from high school. I don’t know if I have mentioned this before, but I have a visual impairment that landed me at Illinois school for the visually impaired. I met a lot of people there who are still my friends today.

So she came over, she’s totally blind and I was her guide for the night. We ate, we talked, and ate and talked some more. She had filled an additional forty east eggs with candies. So I decided we weren’t going to hid those, just eat them I needed sugar.

Okay here’s a funny story for you. When I got to my sister’s house she told me there was soda in the fridge. So I went to the fridge and grabbed a blue can thinking it was Pepsi. I opened it and took a drink. A putrid sour taste filled my mouth. I told my sister that her Pepsi was seriously bad. Like ancient, but then she pointed out that I had in fact grabbed a beer. I looked at the can and she was right, and then it dawned on me that my sister doesn’t drink Pepsi, only Mountain Dew.

Back to the party. There was lots of kids and parents, which usually means drama of some sort. Yes there’s always drama when kids and parents get together. Someone always thinks they can do it better.

So I tried to help my sister out and pass out glow bands for her glow in the dark tag and such. It was a mad house. I don’t know how she pulled it off, but by 11pm I was done. The kids had warn me down with questions and my high school friends were gone. This meant sleep for me.

I woke up and watched the kids open their Easter basket, the oldest complaining that she wanted the fake guitar her sister got and I realized something.

This is the most I had ever spent with my sister and her family. It was nice. I wish they had a train to see my mom. I would go there more, I think.

Well Happy Easter to everyone. I hope it was a hoppity one.!

Time for change!!!

Change in the air. There were at least two days this week that hit the seventies, so that’s enough for me. I am going to start spring cleaning tomorrow. This will be easy enough being that i just moved into a larger house. More space to fill with stuff. I haven’t decided what I am going to put out and what I am going to keep packed. I really need to pack away my winter clothes. Spring is here, even though the forecast is calling for snow tomorrow.

In other news, my pitch interview has been rescheduled again, boo, but in a sense this means more time to practice. It would be safe to note that I haven’t  even put one together. I haven’t had time, but I plan on working on it tomorrow over coffee. Also I I plan on putting together my study. I have a desk and a great view of the desk.

I also plan to re-start my P90X3. This should be interesting. I need to detox my system and plan on using Advocare, Herbal Cleanse to do this. This will be the first time I have tried anything like this. Any advice?

This weeks I also hopped a train to Bloomington Normal to watch my sisters kids for a night and morning while she had surgery. He had the inside of her uterus burned so that she wouldn’t be in any pain. Her kids are now 9, 7, and almost 2. Wow, I feel old. i remember when she had the first one, she was such a cute baby. In factd they all were! It was great to have fun with my nieces and I found out that my nephew is such a cuddle bug! I loved it. We took two naps. It was nice to see them. It sucks that it had to be in the middle of the week. But I found out that the ticket only cost 15 bucks, which means I can take more trips. I plan on going up there for my nieces birthday bash. They are into that High School Monster thing. I guess they are the Twilight version of the Bratz.

Also I have my thesis already picked out for grad school. I’ll post it later when I put the words together better.

Well folks, I”m signing off now.

Thankfulness

So many times throughout life we forget what is really important and really matters.

Today I am going to share with you a few things that I am truly thankful for.

First and foremost family. This includes biological family and my friends. They are there for me when I pick up the phone to chat, bitch, whine, and even cry. They don’t judge me, but tell me how it really is, even when I don’t want to hear it. They watch out for me. They respect me and my girlfriend, again even though they may not agree with our decisions. They help me when they can, this even includes a simple text with valuable information. They inspire me to be a better person. They work with me and push me to do things I would otherwise not do. I love you guys!!

And then I am thankful for having the gift of writing, even though sometime it might now make sense. I love that ideas hit me in the middle of the night and my hands ache until I have a computer under them or a pen in my hand. I love that soon I will be able to share my work with the world via self -publishing. I love that this option is available.

Oh and a bonus, I am so thankful for GOOD actors and actress. I say this because I can put a face to my characters.

What are you thankful for?

Oh and who are you rooting for in today’s football match-ups?
