The Revenant, a review

If Leo doesn’t get an academy award for this movie, I’m done with Hollywood. This movie brought me back to the same time that I watched Dances with Wolves, with Kevin Costner. Couple in the vicious raw video footage of….a gruesome bear attack. It’s so intense, but well shot.

It was gritty in all the right places and reminded me again of what the human body is capable of if the will is strong enough. It was also a harsh reminder of the strain relationships between the Native Americans and the white man.

Even though I am thankful for everything I have, a house I rent, the job I loathe, the car that I pay too much for….but all of it…all of it wouldn’t have been possible if the Europeans didn’t lay the framework. I can’t help but wonder if our world wouldn’t be where it is now if instead of killing the Native Americans and Bison, if the Europeans, Spaniards, and whoever else tromped onto America’s soil would have found a way to be friends.. What would have happened if we would have co-existed? Would there be millions of years left? Enough food to go around? Less crime? Less…hatred? This lingered in the back of my head, but it came and went as the movie played out on the screen.

When the credits rolled I was left with the same feeling as Inception. I didn’t know what to think. The one feeling I remember was a strong sense of depression. Depression in that the main characters plight was met with…such bitter sweetness. You’ll know what I mean if you’ve seen it.

It’s a great movie!! I grimaced, felt like crying, gawked at the ceiling, and felt sick. I love movies that take me on a wild ride and like I said at the beginning, he had better win an Oscar.

This Week

This week plan on creating blogs on both blogs, marketing my upcoming e-book (any advice would be greatly appreciated it), and wrapping projects up.

On the Writing Block:

Finish Twisted Desire, book 2 of my Twisted Series. This is merely a revision. Once it’s finished I can start the beta reading process and editing as well.

Finish writing book 2 of my Catalyst series. I am about one third done.

Read through TGB book project. Once this is done I can send it to the editor.

Put together a list of projects I need to put together. I am hoping to publish a collection of short stories sometime this year, I am still writing them. The collection is entitled The Reaper.

In other news I plan on going to the gym four times and adding zumba back into my life at least 3 times. Oh and yoga, I need to do yoga.

What’s in plan for this week?

U is for UMA!!!

The first movie I remember seeing her in was Pulp Fiction, I previously posted the dance scene between John Travolta and her, which is one of the iconic scenes of the movie. Check it out!

GATTACA was the next film I enjoyed with her as the leading lady! It’s one of those great films that deal with the future in respects to one’s DNA.

It’s a great film.

Next she kicks butts and leaves little to the imagination in her hit action films as Beatrix Kiddo….or The Bride, in Kill Bill 1 & 2. They are working on a third installment, I bet if trumps the other two with gore!

And she can dance and sing too!! The Producers was a hilarious film.

She can play anything thrown at her.

What’s your favorite?

Frankenstein Review

Wow, so I just finished Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and now wonder why I was afraid to read this book. Okay I listened to it, but still.

It’s nothing like the movies portray. You know the Mad Scientist piecing together a man in a hug dark mansion alone. Nope, didn’t happen. I love she insinuated how he looked without going into great detail. She was more interested in evoking a feeling and I have to admit she nailed. It.

I feel bad for the monster Frankenstein created. It’s not his fault that he is hideous or that he is even alive. It’s his creators fault. Not saying that eh killings were justifiable, but I can see how this can lead t intense anger.

What did you think of it?
