Orphan Black

OMGosh!!

Have you seen this show?

I watched three seasons this weekend!! Woot woot!! Too much television! Bt it was for a good cause. This show has spawned so many good ideas spinning around in my head.

So if you don’t know its about clones!!

It begins with Sarah Manning, a young woman who returns to town after being MIA for a year. She is stressed about getting custody of her daughter. When she is waiting for the train, she meets a woman who looks just like her….this woman jumps in front of said train.

Thinking fast she decided to steal this woman who looks like her identity and she becomes Beth Childs.Who happens to be a cop and just killed a civilian.

Season 1

I’m Back!!

Self published book 2…Twisted Desire, finished draft of A Girl from Thailand….and working on my dystopian novel, Frost.

Busy busy…what about you?

T is for Taylor!

Even though I didn’t get to T, for the A to Z challenge, I wanted to blog about Taylor Swift. She is my all-time favorite songwriter. Now let me clarify as much as I love her she’s not my favorite singer. The girl does have a way with words. When I first started listening to her, I was sure she was going to be a one hit wonder…with “Our Song”. Let’s face it…the song was overplayed.

Then I heard Should’ve said No…and was hooked. I am a sucker for good lyrics. Her next album hit the stores and she pushed her higher into the limelight. Love Story, Fifteen, and Change were on this album. My favorite was White Horse.

Next came Sparks Fly…AWESOME ALBUM…so man hits….Back to December, Mean, Ours, Haunted, Revenge….all good. It’s a really great album.

Red was next…this was her last country album. I love the song Red, The Moment I knew, I knew you were Trouble, We are Never Ever Getting Back Together, Everything has changed.

And we are now at 1989 her all pop album and she didn’t disappoint. Shake it off, was a super fun perky song with an awesome video too.

Next came Blank Space…LOVE THE LYRICS.. It’s like any young adult book, drama, movie…all rolled into one. I mean the line, “Cus baby I’m a nightmare dressed as a daydream”…gets me every time.

We have Style, New York, New Romantics, Wildest Dreams, and the mega star video Bad Blood.

So…I can’t wait to see what the future brings.

Carry on Taylor…keep going…

N, O, P

Norah Jones, Ottis Redding, and Paul Simon are just a few of my favorites!!

K, L M

Kesha

Uh…I wrote these, but never posted them….I kept forgetting….oppseee, so enjoy!!

Problems, problems…and more Problems.

When she first arrived on the music scene I wasn’t sure I like her music, but then like all pop songs it wrapped itself around in my head. I hummed that song over and over again that summer. Then she came out with a few more. Now…now she’s got drama.

It seems to follower her around. So I decided to stay clear of it and focus on the tunes…so enjoy the song that started it all!

Linkin Park

Okay so I love the Transformers and if you notice at the end of all their movies they end it with a Linkin Park song!! How cool is that? I’ve always like the unique flare of these performers. They can emo it up or rage it up.

They fit right in with the Transformers!!

Auto-bots fall out!!!!

Murder By Death

When I met my life partner, she introduced me to her favorite underground band, Murder By Death and I was hooked. The lead singers voice reminds me of a Johnny Cash meets blue grass. It’s deep, rich, and just all around good. Not to mention they have an electric cello player! How cool is there?

So here’s a few I like….Oh and they’re lyrics are powerful….Killbot 2000 and Ash are two powerful songs.

J is for….Justin

Justin Timberlake and Justin Bieber have both been hounding my playlist over the past week. I don’t know maybe Pandora was trying to help me, but it needs to stop. My brain now had a soundtrack that mirrors a club. Fun times!

So here are a few of my favorites….and yes they might make you dance a jig, shake your hips, and even smile…enjoy.

C is for Cole

One of my all-time favorite artists is …drumroll….Cole Porter!! I bet you though I was going to say Carrie Underwood, Coldplay, or even Cher. Now don’t get me wrong these are wonderful singers and songwriters. But Cole Porter is the Top of my C’s.

His music has touched the hearts and lives of many via his musicals and instrumental ensembles. What gets me are his lyrics. They are so witty and clever and way ahead of his time!  His spotlight started to shin in the 1930’s. So without further ado….enjoy!!

My all-time favorite!!

The night is young, the skies are clear
So if you want to go walking, dear,
It’s delightful, it’s delicious, it’s de-lovely.
I understand the reason why
You’re sentimental, ’cause so am I,
It’s delightful, it’s delicious, it’s de-lovely.
You can tell at a glance
What a swell night this is for romance,
You can hear dear Mother Nature
Murmuring low,
“Let yourself go!”
So please be sweet, my chickadee,
And when I kiss you, just say to me,
“It’s delightful, it’s delicious,
It’s delectable, it’s delirious,
It’s dilemma, it’s delimit, it’s deluxe,
It’s de-lovely”.

I feel a sudden urge to sing
The kind of ditty that invokes the spring.

I’ll control my desire to curse
While you crucify the verse.

This verse I started seems to me
The Tin-Pantithesis of a melody,

So spare us all the pain,
Just skip the darn thing and sing the refrain…

Mi, mi, mi, mi,
Re, re, re, re,
Do, sol, mi, do, la, si.

The night is young, the skies are clear
So if you want to go walking, dear,
It’s delightful, it’s delicious, it’s de-lovely.
I understand the reason why
You’re sentimental, ’cause so am I,
It’s delightful, it’s delicious, it’s de-lovely.
You can tell at a glance
What a swell night this is for romance,
You can hear dear Mother Nature
Murmuring low,
“Let yourself go!”

So please be sweet, my chickadee,
And when I kiss you, just say to me,
“It’s delightful, it’s delicious,
It’s…It’s de-lovely”.

Mockingjay Part 2

I remember walking into the theater with bittersweet feelings, in that it was the last installment of The Hunger Games, or should have been…I have recently heard a discussion about them making another Hunger Games as sort of a prequel. I wish they wouldn’t, but know they will. I don’t want to see a prequel. That is like Twilight having a Prequel LAME!!

I say this but I will probably flock to the theater with the thousands of others to watch it under protest.

So the movie was everything I wanted and more. I loved the scenes in the capital and the realization by Katniss that Gale is a weapons mastermind. I won’t say more than that, just in case someone hasn’t seen it yet or read the book.

It takes you on an emotional rollercoaster! Get ready. I was satisfied with the final installment of The Hunger Games and I am looking forward to more young adult books being changed into movies.

What did you think?

Catching Fire…review

So when Catching Fire came out, I was mad at Katniss for the way she was treating Peeta, just as I was in the book. Here was a guy who put everything on the line, including his heart to fight for this chick. A chick who makes it clear that she can take care of herself.

I was pissed that the game maker had decided to do another hunger games with the victors. Talk about a slap in the face. It was brutal and mean. I understand the logic behind President Snow, he wanted to get rid of her, but had to be tactful about it. Killing her would just piss off a bunch of people. So why not make a game of it.

That’s what he did. But again there were plans at play that he didn’t know about. He was outsmarted again and Katniss was freed and Peeta sacrificed to the Capital. Anyone knows that in any great love story there will be a plot twists that keep us on our toes.

What I would like to point out is that even thought I had read the book and knew what was going to happen, I was still shocked to see it played out. It hit another part of my psyche. If a book made movie is done right it will illicit this kind of response.

So when the ending credits ran, I was again anxious to see the next installments.

The Hunger Games: Review

When I first heard that Jennifer Lawrence was cast as Katniss Everdeen I didn’t see it. I had known that Lawrence was used to playing bad ass girl characters, with her role in The Poker House, and Winter’s Bone. She is tough and a damn good actress. I was excited to see how things turned out. After the movie I remember feeling giddy with excitement. I can’t wait for the next movie to come out. Not only was her part good, but the role of Peeta Malark was casted well with Josh Hutchinson. Over all I gave it a five out of five. Art of me wishes that there was more violence and gore, like the book, but I understand why the directors decided to go that route. It’s so they could get more viewers without having to have the added drag of R ratings.

That being said, I don’t feel that the story is appropriate for grade school children. I mean it’s just too much, they don’t need that. Let them read Charlotte’s Web or The Box car Children. No need to bring in blood and gore, they get that enough at home.
